No Dustbunnies
When most people hear the phrase Washington, D.C, the thing that comes to mind for most people are the many politicians, political groups, non-profit organizations and talking heads that make up our political system. To most people, the area is where all of the most important issues facing the country and the planet are discussed. But outside of the political side to the city, the area is also home to a prospering music scene, as well.
Along with many bands like Honor By August and a large amount of solo musicians that live in the D.C. area (this includes Cleveland’s own Michael Jantz), singer-songwriter Flo Anito is one person who has decided to make the city her home base. It was after completing her college education that Flo decided to move to the nation’s capital to pursue her dream of making a living playing music.
It is in the Washington, D.C. area where you will find the classically trained Flo Anito. Like Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, or Tori Amos, Flo Anito writes music that fits into the “pop” music category. And like Jones, Anito’s music has a jazzy feel to it.
Since her move to the nation’s capital, Flo Anito has released, and also sold out of, her first album. She also continues to play to audiences in venues throughout D.C. and the rest of the New England area.
With the success of her first album, Flo Anito recently released a new album of music entitled “No Dustbunnies”. The album features 11 songs that find Flo alternating between the acoustic guitar and the piano. The songs contained in the album have themes that deal with love, lost love, and dealing with situations within relationships. The best songs on the album by Anito Flo are: Man of the Year, Change My Life, Mean, and Drunken Letter, a song about only being able to express her feelings when she writes her thoughts down in a letter that is written after having a few drinks.
Since the release of “No Dustbunnies”, Flo Anito has been picking up speed in her career as the new release has helped get her name out to the music buying public. Anito has also had help along the way as people like Cleveland’s own Michael Jantz have featured her in showcases. Michael has featured Flo several times in his Sunday Night showcases at the Wonderland Ballroom in Washington, D.C.
The new release is doing so well for Flo, in fact, that “No Dustbunnies” is currently being featured on the CD Baby website. The album can be found the website’s Top-Selling Jazz: Jazz-Pop album chart in the Top 30 albums on the chart.
Flo Anito has the talent it takes to stand out from the crowd. And her new album, “No Dustbunnies”, helps to make that point. If you are fond of artists like Tori Amos or Norah Jones, then Flo Anito and her album, “No Dustbunnies”, needs to be in your music collection.
